Neuro-Physical Therapy
Neuro-Physical Therapist is a specialized field of therapy that evaluates and treats individuals with movement impairments from a disease or injury to the nervous system. The primary focus is to restore function and improve quality of life. The neuro PT program has a unique protocol that utilizes principles of neuroplasticity, principles of motor learning, and mechanisms of full load-bearing to encourage the recovery of function in individuals with neurological impairments.
- Brain injuries
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Parkinsons
- Spinal Cord\
- Stroke
- Concussion/Headaches
- Impaired movement or balance
A Neuro-Physical Therapist works to reorganize connections in the brain and spinal cord to repair or develop new pathways to completing tasks.
Just like other therapies, damage to the brain or spinal cord requires specialized therapy to restore nervous system function. When damage occurs, cells controlling movement can die resulting in a loss of function. Physical therapy can help the brain and spinal cord to develop new pathways to control the missing functions, restoring a person’s ability to be independent and giving improved quality of life.
